Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Bakersfield, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Bakersfield is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Bakersfield is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

When our office decided to celebrate the end of tax season with Indian food, I found myself searching for a restaurant I could trust with an important event. My longtime favorite Indian restaurant had permanently closed, so I visited Saffron Indian Food & Bar hoping to find a worthy successor. What I found was something even better. When I first walked in, I met Inder and explained that I was organizing catering for our office dinner. I had already drafted the order by hand to make things easier for his team, but what immediately stood out to me was how humble, approachable, and genuinely passionate he was about the food he serves. From our first conversation to our text correspondence, pickup day, and even following up afterward, Inder remained hands-on, transparent, fair, and incredibly helpful. One thing I especially appreciated was his honesty. Rather than simply taking the order as written, he informed me that the amount of food I had requested would feed far more people than expected. Many businesses would happily take the larger sale without saying a word. Instead, he looked out for us and made sure we understood exactly what we were ordering. That level of integrity m

Food was pretty good, parking is easy, service is decent (our server was great but a bit understaffed on a weeknight) Food- 5 stars everything was flavorful but slightly on the saltier side. My only feedback is that the paneer could've been cooking in the sauce a bit longer to soak up the sauce. We ordered the standards: lamb tikka masala, the samosas, the onion fritters, palak paneer and the naan Service- 4 stars Our server was great but they are a bit understaffed during the weekday Bottom Line Really good Indian food, easy parking and fair pricing. Excellent new Indian food addition

Went here on a Tuesday night and it was pretty slow but the ambiance inside was really nice and clean. Our food was good as well. We had the bartender as our server she was really sweet but I forgot her name. I ordered gol gappe for appetizers Iβd try that if you like tangy sauces, are a vegetarian, and want to try street food from India. It contains onions & potatoes inside the rounded chip. Itβs a flavor blast in your mouth. Then for entree we ordered butter chicken (medium spice felt like mild), and chicken korma with rice and tandoori roti. Order tandoori roti if you want a lower calorie bread to accompany your curries. I loved the butter chicken (always good to order if youβre new to Indian food) and the chicken korma it was good but it wasnβt for me. I would order that if you are new to Indian food and canβt do spice. It tasted like Moongi masar dal (yellow lentil soup). It still had lots of flavor but I was thinking the chicken korma was going to taste like navratan korma which is more coconut and sweet but this was more mild Indian spices but still it was good. Iβd probably order that if I was sick and wanted an Indian version of chicken soup. Honestly I think this is a pla

Stopped by this place on the way from LA to bay area, primarily as it was nearer to the free way, but glad that we did. The place has good ambience, casual bar atmosphere with TVs all around. The service is really quick, friendly staff. We ordered the onion pakora that were really tasty, crispy and well made, served with mint and tamarind chutney. For mains we had Malai kofta with naan and tava roti, and everything was delicious. The curry was mild as requested, came with a side of rice. The kofta are decent sized and 4-5 pieces inside. The naan and roti were both soft and hot. Ordered a ras Malai for dessert and even that was great with generous nuts on top.

I went the second day they were open and the food was okay. I found it a bit salty but the naan was one of the best I have had. I am still willing to go back and try again. The location is beautiful and the decor is stunning.
